Chapter 5 The Next Day
Not being completely honest with Brad about my anxieties over the move in did make me cringe. I just hoped me being honest with him wasn’t going to cause issues. I mean we haven’t officially been together that long. I had to shuffle my thoughts as Brad entered my apartment. Yes, I said my. You read that correctly.
Brad seemed excited as he was thinking of ways to fit his furniture and where he planned to put his posters and random items. I knew he was excited, but I started to have the talk with him. I said in a stern, sad voice if we were moving too fast. I was starting to feel a shiver down my spine, and he started to sigh.
He spoke abruptly and he said no, I feel comfortable with you, and I like things moving quick. That’s how I deal with stuff. And trust me baby, I’m overly excited about this stage of my life.
That quickly brought some relief and a grin to my face. I began to help him finish his move, so glad it was only from the apartment next door. I was sure between the both of us we could finish much faster. I guess to start a life in my apartment together wouldn’t be so bad, right?
As he brought in the last box into the apartment, he shouted that it. I’m done. Our new story awaits!
Chapter 6 The Unexpected Phone Call (Brads Call)
A couple of weeks have passed, and the move seemed to be the best decision I have ever made! Brad and I would cuddle every morning and enjoy coffee in our pjs. It felt completely like a dream, that is until Brad got a weird phone call from a lawyer explaining that his uncle had past and there was a lot that needed to be taken care of and attended to according to his uncles will.
I knew through Brads grief and sadness I couldn’t let him do all this alone. I was his lover and partner, after all.
On the next Tuesday, it was a gloomy afternoon, and it looked like it was about to rain over our small town. I knew I had to get ready to help Brad get dressed up for the lawyer’s office. We of course had to meet with his grandfather’s lawyer to go over his will and last wishes. I knew Brad wasn’t ready for this and couldn’t do it alone.
As we enteredthe lawyer’s office, I could spot a grin on the lawyers’ face. But why?
As we sat down, he quickly said welcome and nice to meet you, we got some things we need to go over.
Part of your fathers will be the trainyard he ran, it has been abandoned for a couple years but it is now yours. The look on brads face was ghastly as he said I never knew my uncle had a train yard… Why would he hide this from his family? Especially from me. I asked the lawyer if there was anything else we had to go over, and he shook his head and said no.
He passed the title and keys over to show it was now officially ours.
That was it, I thought…
Chapter 7 Uncles Abandoned Train Yard
On the car ride home I suggested to Brad that we should at least pass by the train yard at least to check it out. It was outside of town but I knew the ride was going to be exciting; especially with my man Brad. As we got into the car, i could tell it was getting oddly dark as a storm was approaching. Still kinda in shock about his inheritance, brad knew it was his responsibility to get this all figured out.
About a hour and a half car ride later, we approached the spooky and dark train yard. It was destroyed and looked abandoned. But I wondered why was it left like this and the mysteries behind this land. Brad looked upset but curious as to why would his uncle would leave him this railroad yard? To anyone else it seemed like a trash pile, but he knew there was more to this story…..
We immediately went into the train shed looking building to get out of the pouring rain and what we saw before us we couldn’t believe.
