Sometimes in life I’ve felt I’ve had to change to fit in
Since am gay, I’ve felt growing up i’ve had to put on a facade and a mask
in order to be loved.

But ask anyone who has lived part of their life in the closet, and they would agree
Sometimes looking out at others relationships
You would get jealous, want companionship, and rightfully so

I craved loved and being accepted since I was a boy
I tried being in straight relationships with women, but it would never work
I craved love, but first I had to learn to love and accept myself
As I truly was,
a gay man struggling to learn to love and be himself.

It took much pain and acceptance, many years in that dark closet
But
I believe that now I am free and can be my gay self
No holding back, this journey has begun

No dark closet can hold me anymore.
Being free and being me, no matter what
